Itinerary in detail

Every trip is made to fit your interests and preferences. Here is an example of a trip plan that you can use to plan your own unique trip.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive to Kilimanjaro Airport. You will be picked up with our driver and transfer to Arusha City for about 45 minutes. You will check in at your recommended Lodge & Hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After enjoying a lovely breakfast, you’ll set off from Arusha for a delightful two-hour journey to Tarangire National Park. As you journey, you’ll discover the vibrant colors and unique character of Tanzania: maybe you’ll spot some Maasai herdsmen guiding their flocks of goats to fresh pastures. You’ll get to know your driver-guide, and you’ll be impressed by how much he knows as he easily answers all your questions. As you step into Tarangire, you’ll start your game drive through a beautiful expanse of endless golden savannah that embraces the Tarangire River. Tarangire is really big! When you stand at the park gate and gaze south, it extends endlessly before you. This amazing park, often called the ‘Elephant Playground,’ is home to the largest population of these magnificent creatures. Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, gnu, zebra, and gazelle, and the park can rival Serengeti for its incredible animal densities. What do you think you might see today? Maybe a lone male lion lounging under a tree, or a group of three male cheetahs having some relaxed bonding time in the sunshine. Perhaps a lovely Grant’s gazelle or zebra leaping away from the road, or a pair of giraffes happily nibbling on the finest acacia branches. When you’re in Tarangire, be sure to keep an eye out for the kudu and oryx – they’re truly special sights!

Just like in other parks, it’s a good idea to pay attention to the little animals! It’s truly captivating to admire the strength and grandeur of an elephant or the gracefulness of a giraffe. Why not ask your guide to help you spot an agama lizard? It would be amazing to see a male one change color right in front of you based on the temperature! Or a hyrax, known as pimbi, a small and unassuming creature of about 30 cm in length…who surprisingly has a connection to elephants!

You’ll find that not many trees go by without something interesting for bird lovers catching your attention. A delightful splash of color could be a lilac-breasted roller or a superb starling. Ostriches are everywhere, and it’s hard not to smile when you see the aptly named, studious-looking secretary bird as it clumsily walks across the grasslands.

The park is well-known for its majestic baobab trees, beautiful rolling savannah, and charming acacia woodland. It might get a bit dusty, so wearing a scarf over your mouth can help, but that’s just a small trade-off for the chance to see so much wildlife! After a fun-filled game drive, you’ll head to your cozy accommodation to unwind, perhaps enjoy a drink, have dinner, and get that all-important night’s rest.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we set off towards the stunning Serengeti National Park, passing through the lovely, elevated farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’re leaving the highlands behind and venturing into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – where the endless plains stretch out as far as the eye can see. Our destination is the central park area, known as the Seronera area, which is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. Here, the Seronera River provides a vital water source, attracting a wonderful variety of wildlife that represents many of the Serengeti’s species. Once we arrive, we can look forward to an exciting wildlife viewing game drive in the Serengeti.

Day 4: Full Day at Serengeti National Park

Something very remarkable happens when you wake up in the Serengeti. In the most well-known national park in the world, you’re about to embark on a full day of adventure surrounded by the sights, sounds, and scents of Africa. Your morning game drive in Serengeti National Park begins after breakfast. Along the route, your knowledgeable driver-guide will point out the park’s breathtaking landscapes, explain how the light changes throughout the day, and point out the fascinating animals that inhabit them.

Wildlife of various kinds can find a suitable habitat along the Seronera River, which winds its way through the region. The iconic kopjes, or rocky outcrops, that define the Serengeti landscape will also be visible. Kopjes are typically granite and extremely hard. They were formed before the surface of the planet was pushed up from the ocean and are perhaps 600 million years old. These rocky areas are frequented by lions and other felines, as well as snakes and hyraxes. As they slowly deteriorate in the elements, you can see them flaking off in stages. Having lunch in the midst of the wilderness will be an experience you will never forget. Once you’ve had your lunch, it’s back out into this breathtaking park in search of wildlife. As the day goes on, the wonders of Serengeti gradually change. The countless birds and animals are the main attractions, and the unexpected can happen in nature at any moment. You never know when you could see a lion, leopard, elephant, zebra, cheetah, or antelope on one of your excursions since, well, animals don’t follow a schedule. The Kori Bustard, the biggest bird in the world that can fly, is a sight to behold. Its wingspan is around three meters, and it can weigh as much as fifteen kilograms, making it the bird’s analogue to a hefty freight plane. You will go back to your lodgings for dinner and some much-needed rest at the end of the afternoon.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Start your day with breakfast at the lodge before embarking on an early descent to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive experience. It’s advisable to begin your descent right after breakfast or even opt for a packed breakfast to maximize your chances of encountering rare wildlife like the Black Rhinos. Spend the morning exploring the diverse habitats of the crater, known for its towering walls and remarkable concentration of wild animals, often dubbed as a natural zoo. With luck, you might even spot the iconic Big Five during your adventure.

After immersing yourself in the wonders of the Ngorongoro Crater until lunchtime, enjoy a picnic lunch at the designated hippo poolside site. Following your satisfying meal, ascend the crater rim and bid farewell to the conservation area. Your journey continues as you head back to Karatu for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

After breakfast you will be picked from your lodge and embark on a drive to Lake Manyara national park. Lake Manyara national park is a very fascinating Tanzania wildlife destination famous for tree climbing lions and large concentration of flamingoes, Lake Manyara is one of the only two destinations in Africa where you can find the tree climbing lions and the second one is Queen Elizabeth national park in Uganda. When you arrive in the park, you will check into your lodge, have lunch and then head to the park for an afternoon game drive for sights of animals like elephants, tree climbing lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests and various bird species. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 7: Departure

If you have a flight to catch, we will ensure a seamless transfer to the airport. However, if you are not quite ready to bid farewell the wonders of Tanzania, consider adding a Zanzibar beach holiday to your itinerary. Feel free to inquire about our Zanzibar packages and we will be happy to assist you.
